Planning a trip — talk it through

Safaris

Five days in the long grass.

A small-group safari, led by the photographer, once or twice a year.

Once or twice a year, the journal goes out as a small safari. Three guests, one vehicle, five days in the Mara. The aim is not to cover ground but to wait — to be at the right place at the right light, and to leave the rest.

It is not a workshop, though instruction happens when it is wanted. It is not a tour, though planning is done. It is closer to joining a field assignment for a week — slower than most safaris, lighter on stops, longer at sightings.

Bring what you have for cameras. Bring a notebook if you want to write. Everything else is figured out together before the trip.

Upcoming dates

If none of these dates fit, write anyway — sometimes there is room to add a trip. Or book a half-hour by video to talk it through first.
